These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SaveTheCreators.org ("the Site"), operated by Distributed Creatives ("we," "us," "our"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

We have written these Terms in plain language because we believe transparency matters — for creators and for everyone who visits this site.

You may use SaveTheCreators.org to:

  • Read about our mission, research, and advocacy work
  • Sign the Declaration for Creators in the Digital Age
  • Subscribe to our newsletter
  • Access the Advocacy Hub and its resources

You agree not to:

  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose

  • Submit false information (including fraudulent Declaration signatures)
  • Use automated tools to scrape, harvest, or collect data from the Site without our written permission
  • Interfere with the Site's operation or other users' access

3. Declaration Signatures

When you sign the Declaration for Creators in the Digital Age:

  • Your name (or chosen display name) and creative discipline may be displayed publicly as a signatory
  • Your email address is collected but never displayed publicly
  • You may request removal of your signature at any time by contacting us at contact@savethecreators.org
  • Signing the Declaration is a statement of personal support for its principles. It does not create a legal obligation, contract, or membership agreement

4. Intellectual Property

Our content: The Declaration for Creators in the Digital Age, all site copy, research, reports, design elements, and other original materials on SaveTheCreators.org are the intellectual property of Distributed Creatives, unless otherwise noted. All rights are reserved.

Permitted use of the Declaration text: You may quote, excerpt, or share the Declaration for Creators in the Digital Age for non-commercial purposes (personal sharing, journalism, academic research, advocacy) with attribution to SaveTheCreators.org. You may not modify the Declaration text and present it as the official version. For commercial use or full republication, contact us at contact@savethecreators.org.

Third-party content: Where we reference third-party research, data, or organizations, those materials remain the property of their respective owners and are used under fair use or with permission.

Your submissions: By signing the Declaration or submitting information through the Site (such as contact form messages), you grant Distributed Creatives permission to use your name and creative discipline as described in these Terms and our Privacy Policy. You retain all rights to any other content you create.

5. Newsletter and Communications

By subscribing to our newsletter, you consent to receive periodic emails about advocacy updates, research, and movement news. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link provided in every email. We do not send spam, sell your email address, or share it with third-party marketers.

7. Disclaimer

SaveTheCreators.org is provided "as is" and "as available." We do our best to ensure the accuracy of the information on this site, but we make no warranties — express or implied — regarding:

  • The completeness, accuracy, or reliability of any content
  • The availability or uninterrupted operation of the Site
  • The outcomes of any advocacy, legal, or policy efforts described on the Site

The information on this site is for educational and advocacy purposes. It does not constitute legal, financial, or professional advice. For specific legal or financial questions, consult a qualified professional.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Distributed Creatives and its directors, officers, volunteers, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use SaveTheCreators.org. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses.

Our total liability for any claim related to the Site shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, for most users, is zero, because this is a free public advocacy site).

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Distributed Creatives and its directors, officers, volunteers, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your use of the Site.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If we make significant changes, we will provide notice through the Site or by email.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in accordance with applicable law.
